Step inside a traditional coppersmith's workshop, and the first thing you'll notice is the rhythmic, almost musical sound of hammers striking metal. It is here that raw copper sheets are slowly transformed into stunning pitchers, bowls, and decorative pieces.

We spent a day with master artisan Rajesh to understand the intricate process behind these glowing vessels. From annealing the metal to make it pliable, to the final polishing steps that give it that signature reflective warmth, every step requires precision and years of accumulated knowledge.

Essential Techniques

• Sinking: Hammering a flat sheet of metal into a concave shape.
• Raising: Working the metal over a stake to compress and shape it radially.
• Planishing: The final hammering process to smooth the surface and work-harden the finished piece.
